Revolutionmoney is an actual bank with FDIC insurance. Since 9/11 all bank accounts are required to have a SSN attached to them.
Revolution Money Exchange was started by a former CEO of AOL.
The parent company is First Bank & Trust of Brookings, SD. It is FDIC insured. Here is a USA Today article about it. http://www.usatoday.com/tech/techinvestor/corporatenews/2007-11-06-ted-leonis-steve-case_N.htm

My husband is a banker and deals with internet banking and security issues. He has given me the green light for this offer. (if you only knew how picky he is about this kind of stuff ;-)

You have to give your SSN to have a PayPal account as well.
